FAILURE To Perform First Three Albums In Entirety In Trio Of July Residencies

Failure perform their first three albums, ComfortMagnified and Fantastic Planet, in their entirety in a trio of July residencies: July 9 to 11 at Chicago’s Thalia Hall, July 16 to 18 at The Echoplex in Los Angeles and July 23 to 25 at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom.

The band, who will be playing Comfort and Magnified front-to-back for the first time ever in a live setting, have simultaneously announced the April 7 release of FAILURE 1992-1996, a four-piece vinyl box set featuring the three ‘90s-era albums. With the original masters finally being unearthed, ComfortMagnified and Fantastic Planet have been meticulously restored, remixed, and remastered by Ken Andrews to a new level of sonic fidelity that eclipses all previous iterations of the band’s early work.

“Almost everything people have heard from these albums has been sourced from 16bit digital files made in the ‘90s, which was state of the art at the time,” explains Andrews. “But when we found out we were getting our hands on the original analog master tapes, and with all the confusion and lack of quality control on several of the previous iterations, we set out to create the definitive versions of ComfortMagnified and Fantastic Planet. Everything has been sourced directly from first generation multitrack and stereo master tapes. This is us finally getting to present our early work the way we’ve always wanted to.”

In addition to all the originally released songs from the three albums, the band has discovered several unreleased songs which have also been restored and will be included in the box set. “Listening to the b-sides and outtakes from that first year of being a band takes me right back to playing the tiny stage at Jabberjaw in Los Angeles,” adds bassist/guitarist Greg Edwards. “It’s always surprising to me how much of the expansiveness and atmosphere of the later records exist in embryonic form on those earliest stripped-down recordings.”

“These new versions have all the magic from the originals, but now, instead of looking through a hazy pane of glass, the window has been completely opened and you can hear all the elements in their full glory,” explains drummer Kellii Scott.

FAILURE: 1992 to 1996 is available exclusively via Failure.hellomerch.com with pre-orders available now. Bundled packages, featuring the box set and various VIP or ticketing packages, are available via Failure.soundrink.com.

JASMINE CAIN Releases Official Lyric Video for “Money”

Nashville based Alternative Pop / Rock artist JASMINE CAIN, named Musician of the Year by All That Shreds Magazine, has released the official lyric video for her newest single, “Money.” Created by Jordan Roepke, “Money” is the second single off of her upcoming LP SEVEN, due out February 2020, and can be pre-ordered for 12/20 release via The Label Group / INgrooves.

“Have you ever found yourself working for free or doing favors that just never seem to be returned? If you said YES, this song is for YOU!” says JASMINE CAIN.

Multi-Award winning, Sturgis, SD, native, Jasmine Cain moved to Nashville in 2003 and went to work paving the way for female fronted rock in the motorcycle events industry. Jasmine covers everything from Classic and Modern Rock to revved up Pop and Metal. But that isn’t all she is known for. Jasmine has 6 studio albums of award winning original music with her 7th titled Seven slated for release in February 2020. Jasmine has won more than 30 awards for her music and performances including: JPF Female Artist of the Year, (MCMA) 4-time Female Rock Vocalist, and NIMA Artist of the Year and 2 time Alt-Rock band of the year to name a few. Her performances (over 120 shows in 2018) are professional, stadium quality, and high energy, keeping the audience’s attention from the first note until the last. Her songs are emotional and timeless, and her voice is strong and soul-filled, taking audiences on a supercharged ride.

SUITCASE Releases Official Video for “Super Knife”

Seattle based Rock Band has released the official music video for “Super Knife.” Directed by Lance Hofstad, and originally premiered on Northwest Music Scene, “Super Knife” is off of their newest LP, Come Back, which is out now via Bandcamp.

Don wrote “Super Knife” after a close friend survived a severe injury: “This song is a series of flashback memories of this friend, while the chorus/outro are more a meditation on human frailty, friendship and loneliness. I feel like the longing in this song translates across the entire album.” says SUITCASE.

More than just a band, the Seattle-based rock ‘n’ roll group, Suitcase, is at the center of a musical family. Born of musical companionship and often found in the comfy confines of the historic Earwig Studio in the city’s Wallingford neighborhood, the group’s steady momentum is fueled by the energy it’s provided by fans, friends and kinfolk alike. Earwig, which has been home to many an act looking to cut a standout record, buoys the group as a home base, the center of a network of support and song.

Suitcase, which released its breakout record, Lisabuela, in 2001, subsequently performed two coveted sessions on the famed radio station, KEXP, playing the Audioasis show with KEXP mainstay host, DJ John Richards, along with a one-hour set on The Live Room. The band also caught the attention of R.E.M. guitarist, Peter Buck, who praised the “really good” group in an interview with The Big Takeover (issue #43), saying, “Geez, I haven’t seen a band that was unheralded in a long time that I liked.”

In 2017, the group re-formed after an invitation to play the popular Emerald City music festival, Upstream. Original co-founders Don Farwell (owner of Earwig) and Ed Otto added Clint Hoyler on bass and Joe Patterson on drums. Together, they recorded a new record, Come Back. Full of introspective lyrics and honeycomb hooks, the album is set for a 2019 vinyl release. After playing prominent Emerald City stages like the Crocodile and the Tractor in the 90s and early 2000s, the band is back for more. Why? Because family is forever.

Full Terror Assault Open Air Festival Returns for Sixth Year with EXODUS, M.O.D., GENERAL SURGERY and More

Full Terror Assault Open Air Festival 2020 (FTA) has revealed Exodus, M.O.D., General Surgery, Ground and Shock Narcotic as the first bands confirmed for the sixth edition of the massive outdoor festival, scheduled for September 9-12, 2020 in Cave-in-Rock, IL.

Exodus are proud to announce our addition to the 2020 Full Terror Assault festival!” says guitarist Gary Holt, who will be making his return to Exodus after a six-year hiatus to tour with Slayer. “It’s gonna be a blast to be a part of the sixth year of this festival, and it is the first US Exodus show we have booked going forward! Raging thrash metal out in the woods, super killer underground festival -the way I like it! This will be RAD!”

M.O.D.’s Billy Milano, who performed at Full Terror Assault Open Air Festival 2019, will make a special appearance, a 50/50 set that culls from M.O.D.’s catalog and also reaches back into the archives to unearth S.O.D. classics. Milano will also serve as festival host and has been tapped for a not-to-be-missed spoken word segment.

Milano expounds on his upcoming FTA duties: “Greetings from Billy Milano, legendary grandfather and pancake maker. I also kinda sing for M.O.D. Full Terror Assault was an amazing experience. I am deeply honored to be the host of the next fest. I’m planning on interviewing all the bands for the fest, as well as the fans. A spoken word/comedy performance is going to take place with a fan interaction. I am going to video document everything so we can show Europe we have a great underground fest here in America as well.”

After a decades-long career, Swedish grindcore legends General Surgery will make their first-ever Midwestern appearance at FTA. “We are extremely happy to finally play Full Terror Assault and to meet our fans in the mid-US,” says drummer Adde Mitroulis. “Let’s celebrate the death and gore together in Cave-in-Rock next year!”

“Being at FTA feels like I’m back in high school on summer break, hanging out with my buddies all night, laughing & drinking around the bonfire, death metal blaring in the background,” says Shock Narcotic vocalist Shawn Knight, who first played FTA with his band Child Bite in 2016. “It was a blast! We came back the following year knowing it would be a highlight of our year. I’m excited to come back again in 2020, this time with Shock Narcotic.”

FTA is the first true European-style open air festival for extreme music fans in the US. Fans will experience a day of early camping, which is free throughout the entire weekend, and a DJ party on September 9. Thursday, September 10 will continue the pre-party with contests, music and activities.  The festival kicks into full gear on September 11 and 12 for two more days of non-stop blistering sets from the best bands in extreme music. More than 50 bands will play over the course of the weekend. In addition to live music, FTA will host food vendors and a “Terror Market.” FTA is a BYOB event.

Tier 2 “FTA All The Way” Passes are on sale now at special Holiday pricing and include the 2 Day Shock Pass for $69.99, the 3 Day Panic Pass for $79.99 and the 4 Day Terror Pass for $89.99. Early bird tickets, known as Tier 1 “F*cking Lifer” Passes, sold out in just one week. Camping and showers are free and camping upgrades are available, including RV sites. For a list of available passes and individual upgrades visit here. For upgrade packages visit here.

FTA will once again be held at Cave-in-Rock’s Hogrock Campground, nestled within the picturesque Shawnee National Forest, with over 100 acres of wooded campground land, scenic lakes, and even a beach. Cave-in-Rock is located within a five hour drive of major cities such as Indianapolis, St. Louis, Louisville, Nashville and Cincinnati, and roughly six hours from Chicago, Atlanta, Columbus and Kansas City.

Full Terror Assault Open Air Festival is an independently run event managed by a small team of passionate, hard-working music fans – including a promoter who has been involved in the underground and extreme music for over 25 years. The festival originated with the goal of providing fans a true open air festival atmosphere without having to travel to Europe, and each year that goal has been met, with stories of the festival’s success spreading by word of mouth online and in the underground.

CARCASS Debuts “Under The Scalpel Blade”

English death/grind legends CARCASS are gearing up to headline the closing night of Decibel Magazine’s “Metal & Beer Fest: Los Angeles” on December 14th. In preparation, the band has released a new single called “Under The Scalpel Blade” on streaming services today! The track is the band’s first new song in 6 years and was originally released as part of Decibel’s “Flexi Series” accompanied with the magazine’s January issue. “Under The Scalpel Blade” was recorded during sessions for their upcoming 7th studio album that’s due out in 2020. Purchase the issue with flexi here.

“It’s always difficult trying to decide what new song to expose people to, especially given an absence of nearly seven years???? With that in mind here’s a slow throw away number we cobbled together, and NO the title was NOT plagiarized from the DISORDER album of the same title before you ask!” says Jeff Walker.

Decibel Magazine’s “Metal & Beer Fest: Los Angeles” will feature performances by CARCASSPOSSESSEDNAILSVIO-LENCEGATECREEPERSCHAMMASCHEVOKENINTRONAUTXIBALBASPIRIT ADRIFT and more. Tickets are available now.

CARCASS will also be performing at Evil Beat Vol. 2 at South Side Music Hall in Dallas, Texas on January 11th alongside POWERTRIPVIO-LENCERAZORDEAFHEAVENTORCHE and more. Tickets are available here.

CARCASS’ new single “Under The Scalpel Blade,” is a taste of what’s to come from the band’s long-awaited 7th full-length album. It follows the release of several classic albums over the years, including Decibel Magazine “Hall of Fame” inductees Heartwork and Necroticism – Descanting the Insalubrious, and their influence has changed the face of extreme metal with every consecutive release. Whether it was inventing gore-grind (i.e. Reek of PutrefactionSymphonies of Sickness) or creating the template for melodic death metal (i.e. Heartwork), CARCASS has always made records by which bars were set and rules were broken. Upon the band’s dismantling in 1996, fans mourned the loss of the seminal act and longed that the group would return again one day. In 2007, the metal world got its wish as CARCASS reformed to play several  sold-out reunion shows around the globe. Once again re-motivated to administer a shot of cynicism and infectious riffs into the arm of a sickly metal scene, founding members Bill Steer and Jeff Walker recorded the next chapter of their influential career, 2013’s Surgical Steel. Following the critically acclaimed release, the band toured the world extensively, including recent performances with SLAYER on their final world tour. Now the band that broke barriers 25 years ago has returned to the studio to tear them all down again with their 7th record, which will undoubtedly be one of next year’s most anticipated heavy metal albums.

NOVENA Releases “Disconnected”

Today, UK prog metal/rock band Novena have released the track “Disconnected” (Single Version) along with an accompanying music video. Watch the video here and stream/download the single here. The full album version of “Disconnected” will appear on the band’s upcoming debut full-length album, Eleventh Hour, which is out March 6, 2020. More details on that in the coming weeks.

Novena established themselves on the UK and international prog scenes in 2016 with the release of their widely praised experimental EP Secondary Genesis. Performing at high profile concerts like UK-Tech Fest 2016 and 2017, as well as other dates supporting Skyharbor, Vola, Sithu Aye, and others, Novena has been busy are a force to be reckoned with. They are now preparing to release their debut album, Eleventh Hour via Frontiers Music Srl on March 6, 2020.

The band writes: “In writing ‘Secondary Genesis’, we were saying to ourselves, “what could this be?” With ‘Eleventh Hour’, we are saying ‘this is who we are.’ After three years of working hard to define, write, and record a new album, we are enormously excited to share our debut LP with the world. It acknowledges all of the experimental roads we explored on ‘Secondary Genesis’, and refines them, focuses them, and directs them. ‘Eleventh Hour’ incorporates all of the heavy catharsis, fragile melody, rich harmony, and grand storytelling of the EP, but takes it further and casts the net wider. Still, our aim was to write and tell heartfelt stories, both true and fictitious. In doing so, we’ve created something that we’re proud to share with you and hope you’ll enjoy. We’re enormously excited to be working with Frontiers today and in the future; to share a label with a number of our favourite bands is a dream. Expect so much more from us in the coming years – on record, online and in person.”

Novena’s music moves from the profound to the profane, from the fragile to the unforgiving, and from the introspective to the utterly destructive, exploring a plethora of different genres along the way. Despite this, every song has a solid and personal identity, with choruses that dare the listener to try and forget them.

Novena exploits fully the world class skills of their talented line-up: from Ross Jennings’ (HAKEN) unmatchable voice, to Gareth Mason’s (Slice The Cake) inimitable poetry; Dan Thornton’s (Ex-HAARP Machine, Ex-No Sin Evades His Gaze) blistering guitar work, to Cameron Spence’s (Ravenface) invariably musical drumming, deeply rooted in pop idiom, and unlike anything else in the modern prog scene; from Moat Lowe’s (Slugdge, Ex-NSEHG) expressive and versatile bass playing to Harrison White’s (Theatrical Director and Composer) complex and nuanced compositions. Novena delivers something greater than the sum of its parts.

Fans of intelligent, engaging, emotional music will have much to indulge their mind and spirits in with this band.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund was founded in memory of the legendary rock singer Ronnie James Dio, who lost his life to gastric cancer in 2010.  A privately funded 501(c)(3) charity organization dedicated to cancer prevention, research and education, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund has already raised over $2 million in its short history. Monies raised have been committed to the cancer research work of the T. J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research, the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life, and other cancer research projects. Since 2016, the Dio Cancer Fund has also committed funds to support the research of Dr. David Wong and his team at the UCLA School of Dentistry in developing a simple, non-invasive saliva test for the early detection of cancer, which is in keeping with the Fund’s mission of cancer prevention, research and education.

SHARONE Releases Long Anticipated New Album “Reflection”

Denver, CO based dark rock artist SHARONE has released her hotly anticipated new album, Reflection.

Reflection Track List:
1. Unspoken
2. Cold
3. Poisonous
4. Turn Back Time
5. Marionette
6. White Witch
7. Shatter
8. Filling The Void
9. Closer To Love
10. Final Reflection

Channeling chaos into art, Sharone erupted onto the Denver music scene as a solo artist in 2014 playing local DIY venues; since then she has gone on to play venues such as Marquis TheaterBluebird Theater, and Gothic Theater, playing festivals, and opening for bands such as One-Eyed-DollThe Birthday MassacreFuelSaving AbelDavey SuicideTantricHell’s Belles, and Stitched Up Heart. The atmospheric and melodramatic music of Evanescence and the psychedelic blues of Black Sabbath inspired Sharone to start performing her music live, and to eventually release her 2017 demo album, Storm.

Despite sustaining a dark and nearly melancholy tone on recordings, the gothic artist’s live shows are nothing short of energetic, full of heavy piano riffs, pulsing rhythms, and enthralling theatrics. From emerging from a coffin to jumping off of monitors and captivating contortions, Sharone captures the interest of each audience member through her piercing stage chemistry with her live musicians, and her ever-growing theatrics.

In the spring of 2017, the singer left her mark on the Denver music scene with the release of her first rock album Storm. Following the release, underwent a complete lineup change in her band, and came back stronger than ever with the reincarnation of her dark sound: Enchiridion of Nightmares (2018).

Sharone followed up the release with three exhilarating summer and fall tours, reaching audiences across the western, central, and eastern United States, and is currently working on her third studio album. This unique rock artist is destined for success in the metal and goth rock realm.

Sharone‘s third studio album, Reflection, is due out December 7th, 2019.

MAGG DYLAN Announce New Album “Amethyst” Out February 21

Virginia Beach alternative metal band Magg Dylan will release their new full-length album entitled Amethyst on February 21, 2020 via Eclipse Records. The album was produced by Jonathan Dolese and Bruce Jordan with cover art by Diego Gedoz de Souza. Pre-order or pre-save the new full-length album Amethyst at this location

Amethyst features ten alternative metal anthems which showcase the band’s emotional raw energy. Highlights on the album include “Scarz” which was written about singer Suzanne‘s personal experiences with bullying during her childhood, and as an adult in the personal fitness, and music industries. “Naked Alone In the Tub” was the most difficult song for Suzanne to release, as she didn’t want to share some of the darkest moments of her life as the lyrics talk about depression after life hands you a series of overwhelming blows. The third single from the album “Delusional”which goes in-depth about singer Suzanne‘s past battle with alcoholism and her path to recovery. This band has been through a lot over the years, and their songs reflect the struggles, defeats, and triumphs which have given this album a life of its own!

The band have also revealed a new music video for the first single entitled “Scarz” which was directed by Eric Dicarlo at Square Up Studios. Watch it right now!

“‘Scarz’ is about how other people try to tear you down and no matter what, you must believe in yourself and keep fighting” says vocalist Suzanne De Iulio“We wrote the song because people refer to us as not pretty enough, not smart enough, not thin enough, not young enough, etc… we have all been rejected for a lot of things, but we fight back every time! For the video, I wanted my friend Becky Stephens to be featured because she is one of the toughest women I know. She studies mixed martial arts and professionally competes in OBC. More importantly, we admire her dedication and discipline which epitomize the overall theme of the song.”

Pre-order the album on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and stream the singles via Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora, iHeartRadio, YouTube, and more at here.
