STRYPER Set North American Release Date For No More Hell To Pay Album; Artwork, Tracklisting Revealed

Image

Frontiers Records has announced the release of iconic Christian rockers STRYPER’s new studio album, No More Hell To Pay; the offering has been confirmed for a November 5th release in North America and will be available in two formats – standard CD and deluxe digipak featuring exclusive video content. Produced by frontman/guitarist Michael Sweet himself, the set features some of Stryper’s strongest and heaviest material ever.

Sweet also commented, “No More Hell To Pay marks our 30 year anniversary and what a journey it has been! It’s our eleventh studio release since our first album in 1984 (The Yellow & Black Attack) and it’s quite possibly our best record to date. Why? It’s everything you might expect from a Stryper record – high octane vocals, layered vocal harmonies, guitar solos galore, driving drums and bass and an energy that hasn’t been achieved since our glory days. The message is equally as powerful as it offers hope and inspiration to anyone listening. If you’re a Stryper fan, it’ll make you proud to be one. If you’re not, listen with caution as you may actually become one. We’ve been waving the striped flag for 30 years and we’re proud to say that it’s an honor to still be making music with you and for you. The best is yet to come and it’s coming November 5th!”

ALICE COOPER BOOKS SYMPHONIC TOUR FOR 2014

Image

The Rock Meets Classic tour’s mission statement promises “legendary voices of rock meeting a symphonic orchestra and a rock band.” And that’s exactly what they’ll be delivering next year, when Alice Cooper headlines a number of 2014 dates.

Not too many details of Cooper’s Rock Meets Classic run have been revealed, but we do know that he’ll be on the road with the show for a series of European dates taking place in March and April (you can take a look at the complete list below). Primal Fear drummer Randy Black, a member of the Rock Meets Classic band, reacted to the news by saying, “It’s going to be more of those “pinch me” moments on this tour for sure! Can’t wait to start working on the songs.”

The tour will offer Cooper fans a chance to hear his music in a different setting, but this isn’t the rocker’s first experience with an orchestra; in 1999, he participated in the British Rock Symphony tour, appearing as part of a lineup that included Roger DaltreyEric Clapton and Ann Wilson of Heart. The Rock Meets Classic dates will be part of a busy year for Cooper, who’s also getting ready to release a new album of classic-rock covers.

Image

SLAYER will headline concerts at two venues it hasn’t played in 25 years — the Hollywood Palladium on Monday, October 28, and New York’s Theater at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, November 27, the night before Thanksgiving. GOJIRA and 4ARM will support.

Registered SLAYER fan-club members will be receiving a special email offering them “first-access” to purchase tickets through a special pre-sale that begins tomorrow. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, August 9 at 10 a.m. local time. Log on to www.slayer.net for more ticketing info.

This will be the first time that SLAYER — bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, guitarist Kerry King, drummer Paul Bostaph, and guitarist Gary Holt, who continues to fill in for the late founding member Jeff Hanneman — will play a concert in New York since the Big Four concert at Yankee Stadium on September 14, 2011, and the band’s first Hollywood show since 2010’s Jägermeister Music Tour.

Over the past eighteen months, SLAYER has toured throughout Europe, India, Japan, South America, and Australia, and co-headlined the 2012Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival of North America.

SLAYER has also been confirmed to play the Fun Fun Fun Fest, to be held at the Auditorium Shores in Austin, Texas November 8-10.

OZZY Says 'Incredibly Overweight' WARD Isn't Physically Capable Of Playing With BLACK SABBATH

Image

BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne has disputed original drummerBill Ward‘s claim that Ward was physically capable of taking part in the group’s current world tour.

Ward said in a new interview with Guitar International that he sat outSABBATH‘s current reunion because of a contract dispute and not physical issues, as the other members of the band have suggested. Wardexplained, “I was offered a contract, and I couldn’t sign it. I would never, ever show up for a commitment that I could not do physically . . . It was one of the toughest decisions that I ever had to make, because I absolutely and without question wanted to play.”

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE drummer Brad Wilk played on SABBATH‘s new album, “13”, while Tommy Clufetos is the touring drummer for the group, which plays Tuesday night (August 6) in Detroit, Michigan.

Speaking to the New York Daily NewsOzzy stated about Ward‘s absence from the SABBATH tour: “I don’t think he could have done the gig, to be honest. He’s incredibly overweight. A drummer has to be in shape. He’s already had two heart attacks. I don’t want to be responsible for his life.”

Despite this, Ozzy said “the door is always open” to Ward to return and admitted that without him “it’s not the same.”

Ward said he’s open to returning to SABBATH, but on one condition: “I play all or nothing.” It’s been speculated that SABBATH wanted Ward to play only part of its live shows because he wasn’t in shape to perform an entire concert.

Osbourne told The Pulse Of Radio that he couldn’t necessarily blameWard for the way he felt about that. “I mean, if someone said to me, ‘You should sing with this guy,’ I’d be pissed off, you know,” he said. “I mean, it’s understandable, the way he feels. I’m not saying he’s wrong or right, you know. But we had a mission to do an album, you know, and I mean, I think it would have taken twice as long as it did and that was long enough already, you know.”

In an interview with Mojo earlier this year, Ozzy revealed that Ward was not prepared when he came to the band’s earliest rehearsals for the reunion.

He explained, “We looked at Bill, and he couldn’t remember what the fuck we were doing. He didn’t come clean and say, ‘I can’t cut this gig, but can we work something out, guys, where I’ll come on but with another drummer backing me up?’ Or, ‘I’ll come and play a few songs.’ That would have been cool.”

Ward said that playing for only part of the set “would kind of be aligning to my demise in SABBATH and minimize me. I’m the drummer in SABBATHand quite capable of doing the job.”

TED NUGENT To Release 'Ultralive Ballisticrock' In October

Image

Legendary rocker Ted Nugent will release “Ultralive Ballisticrock” — a new 2 CD+DVD available in three formats (2CD+DVD deluxe edition digipak, DVD/Blu-ray and digital download) — on October 22 on Frontiers Records. The setlist is killer, packed with the songs that forever changed the face of rock, and the performances are razor sharp and electrifying, adding up to a sonic and visual extravaganza that’s not to be missed.

Comments Satyr: “We are back! Sorry it took so long, but we needed the time to be able pull off a record like this.

“Comparing this one to previous records is time wasted, it is SATYRICON; constantly on the move.

“Naming this record ‘Satyricon’ was the most obvious thing in the world. We have never done a record which captures the spirit of this band in such a way. Ever. It will demand a lot from you as a listener, but I know you will love it. It will grow on you and that is why it will stay with you forever.

“We won’t tour as much in the future as we used to, and that will just make every tour more special. This album and this tour is for you and ourselves. It is our moment!”

Check out photos from the studio at this location.

Speaking to AOL‘s Noisecreep at this year’s Inferno festival, Satyrstated about SATYRICON‘s upcoming album: “To me, it sounds very authentic, it’s organic-sounding. And in this digital age where music is mostly played through computers, a lot of that analog vibe gets lost in translation when you play music through medias like that, but I still wanna do it because there’s nothing quite like it. To me, it just makes everything sound the way it’s supposed to sound — it’s dynamical; the music is alive, it’s not overly compressed, the levels are not pushed. So, musically speaking, it’s a very atmospheric record… This record is full of life. There are a lot of surprises here, but I think it’s gonna be a record that’s gonna help the black metal movement perhaps find a new way for the future.”

SATYRICON has always pushed boundaries and never conformed to what was “expected”. That mindset continues to this day, as they awill take part in a very special, exclusive show on September 8 at Oslo’s NorwegianNational Opera House, where they will perform together with Norway’s 55-strong National Opera Chorus.

The special event is part of the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, and fans of both SATYRICON and the National Opera Chorus can look forward to a very unique and exciting evening, which coincides with the worldwide release of SATYRICON‘s new CDtitled.

PAUL DI'ANNO Lands New U.S. Booking Agent, Plans To Embark On North American Tour In January

ImageLess than a week after the announcement of Paul Di’Anno‘s canceled U.S. tour, Nashville-based Mind’s I Entertainment has reached an agreement to represent the former IRON MAIDEN vocalist in the U.S. and Canada. Included are plans for a U.S. and Canadian tour.

“I’m a big fan of Paul‘s and I hated to hear his tour was canceled,” statedMark WarnerMind’s I Entertainment owner. “I hated it so much, I decided to do something about it. Paul is a great musician, a great guy and one of the great metal voices of our time. I won’t let fans be disappointed by poor decisions made by others.”

Initial plans are for Paul Di’Anno‘s tour to kick off in Nashville in late January 2014, covering the U.S., then into Canada by late February. Additionally, Paul will be making a substantial number of personal appearances, interviews and surprise performances with other musicians while on tour.

Di’Anno completed his first North American tour in early 2010, 17 years after he was deported following a prison term for guns and drug offenses.

On August 27, 2011, Di’Anno played his first show since serving time in a U.K. prison after he falsely collected U.K. government benefits by claiming he suffered nerve damage to his back that prevented him from working.

Due to a number of health issues, including a knee problem which will require surgery soon, Di’Anno announced in July 2012 that he would stop touring in 2013.

Michael SaleniusDi’Anno‘s Swedish booking manager and tour manager, told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that 2013 would be “a big, fantastic” last touring year for Paul, with a lot of solo shows, festival appearances andDi’Anno vs. Blaze Bayley concerts. You will also see various guest musicians joining Paul on stage.”

Fan-filmed video footage of Paul Di’Anno‘s July 10 performance at Lilla Torg in Malmö, Sweden can be seen below.

Di’Anno recorded two classic albums with IRON MAIDEN before being fired and replaced by Bruce Dickinson. He went on to front a number of other bands, including KILLERS and BATTLEZONE, and released several solo records.
